12 Feb 2026-Rector Major's Visit

The visit of the Rector Major, the highest superior of a religious congregation, to an institution is always a moment of great significance. Such a visit revitalizes the spirit of the campus, strengthens unity among its various sections, and renews enthusiasm among all who are part of it. This uplifting atmosphere was clearly felt at Don Bosco ITI, Kokar, Ranchi, on the evening of 11th February 2026.

Fr. Fabio Attard, the Rector Major of the Salesian Congregation, arrived on campus for a brief visit and stayed overnight. He was warmly welcomed with great enthusiasm by the ITI hostel boys, the English Medium Hostel boys, and the girls from the neighboring hostels. The school band added vibrancy to the short but meaningful welcome ceremony. The school, church, and ITI campus were beautifully illuminated, creating a festive and joyful ambiance throughout the evening.

In his address, Fr. Attard shared that he felt completely at home, as he had come to a Don Bosco institution. He emphasized that everyone entering a Don Bosco campus should experience the same sense of belonging. He highlighted that students are provided with every possible opportunity to grow—through the dedication of the principal and staff, the available infrastructure, and the support of parents and other stakeholders. With this collective support, he encouraged the students to strive for excellence and become responsible individuals who contribute meaningfully to their families and society.

Following the welcome program, the Rector Major addressed the fathers and brothers of the community. He strongly emphasized the importance of “being” over merely “doing,” reminding them that personal authenticity and identity are fundamental to religious life. He also underlined the value of communion within the community, noting that unity and fraternity are essential for joyfully carrying forward the mission entrusted to them.

The following morning, the Rector Major celebrated Holy Mass in the community chapel. After the Eucharistic celebration, he addressed the students of the English Medium School before departing for Don Bosco, Gumla.

The presence of the Rector Major at Don Bosco, Kokar, Ranchi, was truly enriching in many ways. It was a rare privilege to witness and experience such a visit. His simplicity and friendly approach left a deep impression on everyone. The day proved to be spiritually uplifting and inspiring, energizing the entire campus to move forward with renewed dedication and commitment to the mission entrusted to them.
