18 Oct 2024-Br. Francis Memorial Cup Football Final

It was a memorable day on 18th October for the trainees of Don Bosco Pvt. ITI, Kokar, Ranchi as they had a day of celebration with football match, dances and sumptuous meal for all. The tournament had begun a month ago and the two finalist teams had put up spirited fight to reach the final. The final of the football tournament was held on 18th and the finalists were Electrician 2nd years and Electrician 1st years.

In the morning after two periods of classes, all the trainees were out in the field to support and encourage their favourite teams in the final. The match started at 10 .45 am and ended at 11.45 am. And the champions were none other than the 2nd year Electrician trainees who scored three goals and the hapless 1st year trainees were able to score just one goal only. After the match the real celebration began with dance and singing. As per the record the best scorer of the tournament was Rohit Panna, Best goal keeper was Abhishek Lakra, best player was Amar Abhishek Kujur and the man of the match was Frank Ashish Kerketta.

While the match was going on, a team of students and teachers were preparing delicious meals under the leadership of Mr. Satyanarayan Khalkho with mutton as the main dish for all. The organizing team did a great job to get ready everything on time. Just before the meal there was a dance competition according to the four houses and Blue house was first for the competition.

At 12.45 everyone was around the lunch table for the eagerly awaited meal. Fr. Babu Varghese, the Director, was present to invoke the blessings of the almighty. He appreciated the good ambient and the competitive spirit being developed among the students . Just before the meal Br. Tom the Principal, thanked everyone for the whole hearted cooperation and support for the fabulous day. He also recalled the days of Late Br. Francis Surin who was the principal of the institute during the initial years of the institute. Together with Br. Francis we remembered three other teachers who had served the institute and passed away during the service period. Mr. Santosh Barwa and Mr. Theodore Kerketta had died due to serious illness and Mr. Jaga Lakra had died due to being struck by lightning while he was at home.

After the sumptuous lunch, some continued to dance and enjoy for some more time. It was a learning experience for most of the organizers. They had several meetings to see to the nuances of the day’s program. They were amply supported and guided by the staff representatives and the principal.
